Jan 25, 2013 -- 1:29pm

One woman has been arrested, and State Police are looking for a man after an employee was assaulted inside a party supply store in Elsemere.

Delaware State Police say around 3:30 Thursday afternoon, 25-year-old Vernique Wingfield of Wilmington and a man walked into the Party City store on Kirkwood Highway. Troopers say the man took some merchandise from a display and put it into a satchel. As they tried to leave, they were confronted by an employee. The man then punched the employee several times, and Wingfield also punched him before she broke through the glass door and fled.

Wingfield has been charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree conspiracy and several other crimes. She’s free on $5,000 bond. The man is described as 20 to 30 years old, 6-foot-1 with a thin build, and was wearing a dark pea coat. Anyone with information is asked to call State Police Troop 2 at (302) 834-2630, extension 6, or Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333.
