Delaware Chapter of ADA To Hold Jan. 30 Press Conference In Wilmington To Call Again For Higher Taxes On Wealthy, Corporations

Jan 25, 2013 -- 2:18pm

A group that’s been calling for increased taxes on the wealthy will be holding a press conference next week to renew that call.

The Delaware chapter of Americans for Democratic Action will be holding a press conference at noon next Wednesday, January 30, at the Carvel State Office Building in Wilmington to call for higher taxes on corporations and the wealthiest two percent of income earners. Delaware organizer Ezra Temko says while the group applauds Senator Tom Carper for saying that taxes on the wealthy weren’t raised enough in the fiscal cliff deal earlier this month, it’s concerned about his position that cuts to entitlement programs such as Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security should’ve been a bigger part in reducing the federal deficit.

Senator Carper was one of just eight Senators to vote against the deal just after New Year’s Day.
