Sen. Coons Pleased with Passage of Hurricane Sandy Relief; Says it's Inexcusable It Took So Long

Jan 29, 2013 -- 3:49am

Delaware Senator Chris Coons has issued a statement following Monday’s vote by Congress to approve long-overdue emergency funding for families and businesses impacted by Superstorm Sandy in Delaware and other parts of the East Coast.

The Disaster Relief Appropriations Act, passed by a final vote of 62-36 and is now headed to President Obama for his signature.

Senator Coons says he’s happy federal assistance is finally on its way to assist families, businesses and communities in Delaware and up and down the East Coast that were affected by Superstorm Sandy. However, he points out that it is inexcusable that there has been a nearly three-month delay in getting emergency relief funds to those who need it most.
