The Dover City Council voted 5 to 2 with two council members absent Monday night, in favor of moving ahead with plans to make “The Green” a national monument.
Property owners along “The Green” voiced their displeasure with the Council’s vote last night, while local business owners and historic officials spoke in favor of the federal designation.
“The Green” recently became part of Senator Tom Carper’s quest to create a national park in the state of Delaware. In February, President Obama is set to consider new national monuments under the Antiquities Act.
