Wallops Launch of Terrier-Improved Orion Sounding Rocket Successful

Jan 29, 2013 -- 5:14pm

UPDATED:   The launch of a NASA rocket to test technology for gathering science data during future projects did go off just a few minutes ago at the NASA Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia.  Officials at Wallops are saying viewers could see the "rocket's red glare" in the skies over Delmarva tonight but it really depended on where you were and how thick the clouds were.  Although one watcher in the Lewes area did say they did not see the rocket, but saw the lithium deployment and trails.  Here at the station – we couldn’t see anything but the gradually darkening sky.
