Jan 31, 2013 -- 4:35am

Wicomico County Sheriff’s deputies this week arrested an elderly Delmar, Maryland man after they found a loaded gun in his car.

A deputy stopped 63-year-old William Alvaro for speeding on Route 13 on Monday around 5 a.m. When he approached the car, the deputy says he observed what he recognized as the handle of a revolver sticking out from underneath a stack of newspapers; the deputy also observed that Alvaro’s hand was about 12-inches from the handgun. The deputy seized the .38 revolver and discovered it was loaded.

Alvaro was charged with having a handgun in a vehicle and having a concealed dangerous weapon; he was committed to the Wicomico County Detention Center in lieu of $10,000 bail.
