Gov. Markell To Spend A Week In Japan, South Korea

Governor Jack Markell and First Lady Carla Markell will be spending the next week in the Far East.

The Markells will be on an economic development and goodwill trip to Japan and South Korea. Governor Markell will sign an agreement with the Governor of Delaware’s sister state in Japan, Miyagi, to recognize 15 years of the sister state relationship. Markell will also visit Iwanuma, Dover’s sister city, and Sendai to view damage left behind by last year’s earthquake and tsunami. First Lady Markell will visit Japanese students who visited Delaware on an exchange trip.

In South Korea, Governor Markell will get a tour of Harim, the company that bought Allen Family Foods of Harbeson last year. He’ll also meet with members of the Korean Chamber of Commerce.
