Delaware Day has been observed since 1933, however it’s the day that, in 1787, Delaware became the first state to ratify the Federal Constitution – becoming the First State in the new nation. December 7th was established as Delaware Day thanks to Paul Burkholder and the Rotary Club of Georgetown which made a statewide effort to gather over 6000 signatures on petitions to have this day established as Delaware Day. It was approved by a House Joint Resolution on November 29, 1933.
