A former Wicomico County Sheriff’s deputy is behind bars, being held in lieu of $100,000 bail following his arrest by Maryland State Police for alleged child abuse.
Police launched an investigation against 44-year-old Kendal West of Salisbury last week; police say they determined that 13 years ago, while West was employed by the Wicomico County Sheriff's Department, he allegedly had sexual contact with a then 15-year-old. Police say the relationship apparently consisted of several sexually oriented incidents in various locations throughout Maryland.
West has been charged with numerous offenses, including 4th degree sex offense and 2nd degree assault.
