The Federal Emergency Management Agency refused help to private homeowners in Somerset County, but they haven't given up. On the Lower Shore, Somerset County was the hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy in October.
Even so, FEMA denied help to private homeowners. That, of course, caused public outcry, including strong words from Sen. Jim Mathias.
So, last weekend, FEMA returned for another tour So did the Maryland Emergency Management Agency and Somerset County officials.
Steve Marshall, emergency services director for Somerset, said hundreds of homes were hurt.
Even more damage was found last weekend. Marshall said he's hopeful the appeal to FEMA will be granted this time.
