Sen Ben Cardin Speaks on Senate Floor after Connecticut Shooting

Senator Ben Cardin of Maryland spoke on the Senate floor Monday about the tragedy in Connecticut.  He said Congress needs to take action to protect the safety of children.  Cardin says we live in a culture of violence – which includes the glorification of violence to young people.  However he adds that a discussion of mental health services – especially students – should be included.  Cardin says Congress should examine whether tighter background checks for gun buyers can be instituted.  You can hear his entire floor speech here:
