A memorial service is planned for Thursday night for the newly elected chairman of the Sussex County Republican Committee who passed away last Friday morning. Jerry Wood passed away just before 9 a.m. at his Frankford home. He was 73.

Wood was elected Chairman of the Committee this past March and had been actively involved in Delaware GOP politics since 2008. 

Wood was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida in August.

Thursday's memorial will begin at 7 p.m. at the CHEER Center in Georgetown.
