Delaware, Choptank Electric Cooperatives Issue "Beat The Peak" Advisory

Jan 03, 2013 -- 3:39pm

Today’s cold temperatures have prompted a “Beat the Peak” advisory from the Delaware and Choptank Electric Cooperatives between 5 and 8 tonight.

With today’s cold temperatures, cooperative members will be turning up the heat when they come home this evening, creating a period of peak energy usage. The co-ops pay a higher, premium price for electricity.

Members are being asked to turn off unnecessary lights and appliances, and delay the use of major appliances, such as dishwashers, washing machines and hot water heaters until later tonight.
