UPDATE: DSP ID Laurel Man Murdered

UPDATED STORY 01.07.13:  Delaware State Police have identified a 21-year-old Laurel man who was shot numerous times and killed Saturday night. 

Police say multiple, unknown suspects wearing masks, broke into a home on Horsey & Everett Road in Laurel around 9:30 p.m.

The intruders confronted Kyle Newman and opened fire, hitting him in his upper body with several shots before running away. Troopers are still trying to find out if any money or property was taken during the home invasion.

Newman was pronounced dead at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.

ORIGINAL STORY:  Delaware State Police are investigating a murder over the weekend in Laurel.

Troopers say around 9:30 Saturday night, a group of masked, armed people broke into a home on Horsey & Everett Road in Laurel. The intruders confronted a 21-year-old man and opened fire, hitting the man in his upper body with several shots before running away. Troopers are still trying to find out if any money or property was taken during the home invasion. The man was pronounced dead at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. His name has not been released until his next-of-kin can be notified.
