A Dover woman is in jail after police say she assaulted an officer and a nurse after being stopped for drunk driving.
On Saturday, Harrington Police say they stopped 29-year-old Meshonda Barnes near the intersection of Routes 13 and 14 for a traffic violation. During the stop, officers say they smelled alcohol coming from Barnes’ vehicle. She was arrested after refusing to do field sobriety tests, and was taken to Milford Memorial Hospital to have a blood alcohol test. Police say as a nurse was trying to draw blood for the test, Barnes kicked an officer and bit the nurse. Milford Police had to be called in for assistance. The nurse and the Harrington officer both suffered minor injuries.
Barnes has been charged with a third DUI offense, two counts of third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, driving with a revoked or suspended license, and several other charges. She’s being held at SCI on $14,440 bond.
