Rally in Dover TODAY to Support VFW/American Legion Charitable Gaming

Jan 10, 2013 -- 4:24am

The issue of illegal gaming machines at State fraternal organizations is likely to come up in Dover today. That’s because members of VFW and American Legion Posts as well as AMVET’s members are headed to Dover today for a 1 o’clock rally on the steps of Legislative Hall to protest a letter last November from the Delaware Department of Safety and Homeland Security stating gambling machines in the Posts are in violation of two Delaware laws and should be removed immediately.

Gov. Markell then sent state lawmakers a letter  promising to work with them toward a solution to the illegal gaming machines after 13 lawmakers sent him a letter asking him to suspend the threatened crackdown; Gov. Markell denied their request.

WGMD News will be in Dover today for the rally and will have more on this story this afternoon.
