AGH Patients Can Now Get Online

Jan 11, 2013 -- 1:32pm

Patients at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin can now stay connected.

As part of the hospital’s work to upgrade its patient rooms, Atlantic General installed multimedia centers in each room that will allow patients to make phone calls, watch TV, surf the web and even use Skype, all on one machine. In addition to entertainment, the care dot connection technology allows patients an easy way to access health education and important messages from the hospital. After they were thoroughly tested, the units became available to patients earlier this week.

The technology also allows doctors, nurses and other hospital staff to quickly update content. Later this month, when the Patient Electronic Record Keeping Service, or PERKS, is launched, doctors will also be able to use the multimedia centers to access patient records.
