3rd Airlift Squadron from DAFB To Undergo Landing Training In Virginia Next Week

Jan 11, 2013 -- 2:14pm

A squadron from Dover Air Force Base will be attending a training session early next week in Virginia.

The 3rd Airlift Squadron will be attending a C-17A Globemaster semi-prepared runway training session on Monday at Fort AP Hill in Virginia. The training will prepare crews for landing their cargo planes on dirt runways and unprepared airfields. The squadron’s director of operations says the C-17A was designed to carry out airlift missions and make direct deliveries. In some cases, that means having to land on semi-prepared runways near military forward operating bases.

Crews will be practicing assault landings, high-altitude entrances and exits, and measured arrivals.
