More Flu Patients Coming Into Nanticoke Memorial Hospital

Jan 11, 2013 -- 5:47pm

More patients with the flu and flu-like systems are coming into the emergency room at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford.

Nanticoke says it’s seen a 20 percent increase in patient volumes. The hospital says it’s had three confirmed flu cases, and four more suspected cases that have tested positive in rapid tests. Nanticoke officials say they’re making every effort to see flu patients, especially in the minor care area. Hospital officials are recommending that people use masks, cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing, and use hand sanitizer.

The CDC is currently not recommending that hospitals test all patients who come in with flu-like symptoms to confirm flu cases.
