WBI Says Salisbury Shooting Victim's Injuries Were Self-Inflicted

Jan 15, 2013 -- 4:00am

Charges are pending today against a 20-year-old Salisbury man whom police now say shot himself on Monday.

Wicomico County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Rose Street and East Road around 8:30 for reports that a man had been shot; De'quan Bratten had been shot twice in the leg and shoulder; he was taken to PRMC for treatment.

The Wicomico Bureau of Investigation took over the investigation and after meeting with Bratten at the hospital, detectives determined that he shot himself.

Initially, the Sheriff's deputies had been looking for multiple suspects in the shooting and five schools in the area were put on Code Orange lockdown as a precautionary measure because of the shooting.
