Winter Storm Watch To Go Into Effect Thursday Afternoon

Jan 16, 2013 -- 1:34pm

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for central and southern Delaware and the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland. The watch will be in effect Thursday afternoon and Thursday night.

Rain will mix with snow Thursday afternoon and evening, and then change to all snow Thursday night. Forecasters are calling for two to six inches of snow between Thursday night and Friday morning. The snow will accumulate on roads and sidewalks, which will create hazardous driving and walking conditions.

The snow will be heavy, reducing visibilities to under a half-mile at times.

A Winter Storm Watch has also been issued for Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties from Thursday evening through late Thursday night.  The snow is expected to end late Thursday night or early Friday morning.  The heaviest accumulations are expected to be on grassy areas.
